It finds a lot of parallels between a place in the Bible and a country today that is at a moral and spiritual crossroads. The story goes on to show how the rise and fall of one society can be linked to the rise and fall of a culture from a long time ago. This shows that history does repeat itself in many ways. The thing that really impressed me was how well the author mixed historical details with an interesting, thought-provoking story. This made events that happened a long time ago feel current and important. … One of the book’s greatest strengths is its ability to take historical and biblical references and infuse them with a fresh, modern perspective. The story gives life to history, therefore transforming it into a prism through which we may view the modern world. It does not only tell it. It asks readers to examine historical lessons and how they could be relevant to political environments, modern events, and personal choices.
