50 Ways to Cope with the Loss of Your Child
This author has written a guide for grieving parents from a position of personal experience.
Her 50 Ways to Cope, contained in 10 chapters, takes the experience from shock and denial to affirming reality. Kurz brings out an interesting point which I can relate to as a mother who has lived through and survived the same experience.
After living through the worse ordeal a parent can experience, there sometimes evolves a sense of empowerment.
She uses a quote from Harriet Schiff (The Bereaved Parent), which adequately expresses this idea:
The fear of the unknown is behind us, for most of us, because we have already taken a long look at hell.' I highly recommend 50 Ways to Cope to parents who have suffered the death of a child. May it help to bring you the serenity to accept that which you cannot change."

Spiritual Answers for Perilous Times
After events like those that occurred in New York City on September 11, 2001, it seems that many Americans are more frequently posing religious questions. Is there a God? What kind? Is God good? Does God care about us? Norma Sawyers [Kurz] has posed and addressed some of these most asked dilemmas. No stranger to troubles, especially after suffering through the death of her 15-year-old daughter in a tragic crash, Norma learned that there is a way out of even the worst difficulties that life can pose. In a popular and thoughtful manner, she shares some of the answers that she found during her own struggles and since."
~ Dr. Gary Habermas, Co-author of Why Believe? God Exists!
The privilege was mine to write the foreword for Norma Sawyers' [Kurz] first book A Personal Grief & a Reasonable Faith which I still believe should be read by every 'layperson'! Now, I heartily recommend Spiritual Answers for Perilous Times. Ms. Sawyers [Kurz] is a good writer and helps one understand the only solid anchor in such perilous Times. Kudos Norma! Keep up the good work!"
~ Dr. Terry L. Miethe, Co-author of Does God Exist? A Believer and Atheist Debate
We Live in a dangerous world of religion-driven international terrorism that is causing the deaths of hundreds of men, women, and children around the world, including 3,000 deaths on American soil with the destruction of the World Trade Centers, the Pentagon building, and a jumbo jet over Pennsylvania. Why did God allow such evil, destruction, and loss? Does God really care about the murder and terrorism rampant in the world today? Can God bring forth some kind of benefit out of such evil circumstances, events, and actions. This is for anyone who is seeking to reconcile the love of God with the hatreds and atrocities of human beings in the world today."

A Personal Grief & A Reasonable Faith
The accidental death of Sawyers' [Kurz] daughter at the age of 15 provides the springboard for her journey into faith. In confronting her own grief, she had to ask the fundamental questions that plague many people: Is it wrong to doubt and question? Why does God allow evil and suffering? . . . For those who are struggling with these very real questions, she provides a starting point from which they may continue to grow."
~ Mary Deeley, Booklist
It was a pleasure for me to write the 'Foreword' for this well written book. It has a very important message and can help thousands, both in and out of the church, to a better understanding of Christianity."
~ Dr. Terry L. Miethe, Author of A Christian's Guide to Faith and Reason
Norma Sawyers [Kurz] has discovered that Christianity is something which can be lived out and thought through. Here we read the testimony of a Christian who learned about the intelligibility of faith through what she experienced. Through pain she realized that faith needs understanding and through study discovered the firm foundation of evidences which it rests upon. Norma sets forth the reason for her hope in this book; may God use it to create and strengthen faith in many of her readers."
~ Dr. Clark H. Pinnock, Author of Set forth Your Case & Reason Enough
Norma Sawyers' [Kurz] account is a living example of tragedy turning to triumph, of a profound loss leading to a serious all-out search for answers. At once, this book is an account of a personal journey to faith, of doubt leading to belief, growth, and personal study.
